An avid reader and moviegoer, her ultimate guilty pleasure is murder mysteries. She loves them equally in the form of novels and mini-series, but for reasons she cannot explain, murder is just so much better with a British accent. There aren't many Agatha Christie books she hasn't read nor BBC crime series she hasn't seen. Her least guilty pleasure is her yoga and meditation practice.
Alexandra graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. She received Honors in the major of English literature for her thesis, “Heroic Hybridity: Joyce’s Answer to Purist Nationalism in Ulysses,” advised by Professors James Heffernan and Irene Kacandes. The thesis was awarded a cash prize from the Dickey Center for International Relations and the Chase Senior Thesis Peace Prize Competition. Coursework included creative writing workshops with Tom Sleigh and Cleopatra Mathis. She also completed a semester at Trinity College, Dublin as part of a study abroad program.
Alexandra received her M.F.A. from the New School in New York City, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. She was advised by Robert Polito for her master’s thesis, including the creative manuscript, “Bloom & I” and critical thesis, “Twentieth Century Superlatives: ‘The Real Robert Lowell.’” She was invited to participate in directed study with David Lehman for work related to her master’s thesis. Additionally, she studied with Susan Wheeler, Elaine Equi and Laurie Sheck.
