After obtaining his Master's Degree in Literary translation in 2011, Thomas worked for two years as a translator for the French Ambassador to Belgium. He then traveled the world for a year while continuing working on some large translation projects for human rights NGOs, before fully establishing himself as a freelance translator in his home town in 2014. His main areas of expertise are journalism, international relations, human and social rights, arts and literature.

Summary of Language Experience

Dutch to French (EU)

Thomas spent the twelve first years of his life in Flanders, attending elementary school in Dutch (Flemish) and going back home in a French-speaking family. He worked for two years as a Dutch-French translator for the French Embassador to Belgium, translating hundreds of press articles dealing with mainly with politics, economics, cultural affairs and diplomatic relations. Since he's been a freelance translator, he has cemented firm partnerships with several translation agencies in Belgium and abroad and has become a regular contributor to an investigation journalism magazine (Médor) and a web-based journalism translation platform (Daardaar).

English (US) to French (EU)

Thomas collaborates on a very regular basis with a number of translation agencies on various projects in his expertise areas. He works for several international organisations (OECD, CTA) and NGOs (Protection International, Oxfam), mainly on projects related to education, research and innovation, human and social rights and agricultural development. He also translated a comic book bundle and a short story for DC Comics.

The projects he completed for this language pair are fewer than for his other pairs, but they were all considerably larger in size (up to 250 pages).
