Tom's book translations from UK English to Dutch include Alexander and Malcolm Swanston's "The Historical Atlas of World War 2", Ken Tout's "In the Shadow of Arnhem", and Daniel Huygens' "Opposite the Lion's Den". He is also the author of several books in English, with British publishers.

Tom's translations from French to Dutch include novels by Pierre Lemaitre and Franck Thilliez, plus books on art, sports, and food & drink. He also translated French essays for Dutch film magazine de Filmkrant.

Tom's book translations from American English to Dutch include Kerry Howley's "Thrown", Jim Gordon's "The Wine Opus", and Jessica Kerwin Jenkins' "The Encyclopedia of the Exquisite." He also translated for Dutch film magazine de Filmkrant.

Tom lived in Paris from 2001 through 2009, where he worked as a translator French-English for the venerable film magazine Cahiers du cinéma. He translated the books "Cinema and the Shoah" (State University of New York Press), "Night and Fog: A Film in History" (University of Minnesota Press), and "Memories of the Future: Chris Marker’s Travels and Trials" (Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival) from French to English. He was also interpreter French-English at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. As an author, he has written several books in English with both British and American publishers.

Tom worked as a translator from Dutch to English on the books "Maison Martin Margiela" and "Studio Job: The Book of Job" (both published by Rizzoli International), as well working on the international editions of Dutch film magazine de Filmkrant.
